In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul prays that God would preserve His church – not just in their physical bodies, but in their souls and spirits as well. We humans are multi-faceted beings, composed of soul, spirit, and body. Sometimes we get off balance and focus on one "facet" of ourselves to the detriment of the others. When this happens, we reach out in negative ways to compensate for our felt needs. This imbalance is seen throughout culture, and is propagated as normal - especially in the media. We as the church must learn to find our strength in Christ and, through His Spirit, learn to live balanced lives: lives that are whole and complete in spirit, soul, and body.
