The title may seem provocative, especially to a Calvinist. However, v.5 says, "He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them." This expository message examines the greatness of Jesus, and yet most in Nazareth stumbled over the apparent inconsistency between His humble background and such manifest greatness. Their unbelief limited how many miracles Jesus did in their midst. Even so, our unbelief is a barrier to God's work today, though that barrier can be overcome by God's sovereign work using various means, including prayer. God does take into account human responsibility as He works in our world.
