Luke 2:21-40 is an often overlooked part of the birth narrative of Jesus.
1. Jesus is cirumcised (vv. 21-24). 2. Jesus is blessed by the righteous and aged saints Simeon and Anna (vv. 25-38). 3. Jesus' family returns to Nazareth having 'performed all things according to the law of the Lord' (vv. 39-40).
Jesus is presented in this passage as the perfect law keeper. From birth his life is in perfect harmony with God's will. His perfect law keeping is applied to believers (see 2 Cor 5:21).
