Following after God is going to demand more from us than just believing He is real. He cannot direct our paths while we are still putting our faith in our own understanding. But if we truly surrender our will to his, He will always send us confirmations to reassure us that we are in his will. A good example of this truth is the story of Mary and Joseph, and the many confirmations that God graciously gave to them before and after the birth of Jesus.
