God repeatedly and clearly shows that He alone is worthy of worship. One way He does this is not only by clearly stating this in His Word, but also in showing what is not to be worshiped: idols, angels (neither good nor bad), and fallen humanity (although many have wanted this). God has judged severely in the past when people failed to truly worship Him. That is why Matthew 2:1-12 is so important, because in this account you have people worshiping a baby—and God does not rebuke them. Instead He accepts worship that He has previously given to none one else. This must be some Baby born in Bethlehem!
