Mark 12 fitly describes the the sinful state which the Jewish church was in at that time.
By and large, there was an outward form of piety on display which had no saving power. Amidst the low ebb to which true religion had sunk to, the Lord commends one scribe and one poor certain widow who sincerely sought to cast themselves upon the grace & mercy of God and not men.
