It appears over and over again in the history of Israel, from the first mention in the days of Joshua, when the people complained that they could not take the plains because the Canaanites had chariots, to the days of Ahab and Jezebel and Elijah and finally, in the prophecy of Hosea.
The Jezreel Valley is the first fruit plucked by Tiglath Pileasar when he conquers the Northern Kingdom around 740 BC and, although not called by the name Jezreel, it is the location evoked by Isaiah's words of prophecy - "The land of Zebulun and Naphtali, those living in darkness..."
