Abraham awoke & as Lot scurried to Zoar, he made his way back to the lookout point where he last interceded with the Lord. There he looked down & saw the desolation of God's wrath. It was an overwhelming moment for him. This is the only scene in the narrative in which Abraham does not have a speaking role. He appears atop the mountain speechless. He returned to his tent unaware of Lot's deliverance. Who can know of the weight he carried in his heart that morning? How sobering it is to know that we too will see the outpouring of God's wrath. How we need to be sober-minded as we plead with sinners & intercede for them before God! How we need to be compassionate to those yet living under the wrath of God! How we need to actively evangelize the citizens of modern-day Sodom!
