God's Intended Design for Humanity. Ecclesiastes 7:9-29 KJV What is the most important factor for being successful in life? According to Solomon, it is wisdom. And Solomon should know for he was not only the most successful and wealthiest man in the world of his day, but also the wisest. Even today, although Solomon has been in the grave thousands of years, his wisdom is still the standard by which many wise people are measured. Out of all the glories of his life, Solomon was, and is, most noted for his wisdom. Chapter seven reads like a page out of the book of Proverbs (the parallelism that characterizes Proverbs is present and prominent). It is a collection of simple, practical sayings that we will live by—if we are wise. True wisdom is turning to Christ. Only He is powerful enough to break the chains of sin and set us free from the snare of death. Wisdom is walking in the Spirit. Only through the presence and power of the Spirit can we overcome sin in our daily lives. Wisdom is guarding ourselves from the influence of those who live according to their sinful, rebellious nature. Through the wisdom of God Himself (as revealed in His Holy Word), we have the power to be victorious in a world populated by wicked and sinful human beings.
