By peace is meant the peace of reconciliation, the good will between God and man. The alienation and separation, struggle and divisiveness, restlessness and fear caused by sin needed to be solved. The heavenly host was praising God that the alienation and separation were now being solved in the birth of the "Savior, which is Christ the Lord.""And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven" Col. 1:20.The true essence of Christmas is not trees or tinsel; gifts or glitter; it's not even family or friends. The true essence of Christmas is found in verse 7. The true essence of Christmas is the birth of a baby. Not just any baby, but a baby Who was and is God is human flesh. It was a PERSONAL message, "unto you". It was a POWERFUL message, "a Savior". It was a PROFOUND message, "which is Christ the Lord". It was a POINTED message, "this shall be a sign unto you…". |
