What I want to do is "build" in essence a doctrine of Christmas, so that going forward we might better understand what was going on before, during, and then after the coming of Christ, in the flesh - Immanuel. Before the coming of Christ in the flesh we had promises made and fulfilled in part, in type and shadow, but never in full. These promises came to a family, people, nation, church at war with the ungodly - the seed of the woman against the seed of the church. Christ was born into this was between good and evil, one Seed against another, and in the incarnation both the promises of God and the efforts of Satan reached fever pitch. This culminated in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In His body and blood He destroyed the power of Satan, quieted the wrath of God, and brought peace to a people who knew no peace. Christmas is warfare, bright and beautiful, because Christ has won and Satan and those who follow him have been, are, and will be put to flight. Let us rejoice, dear saints that Christ has come, He has broken the back of our great enemy and He will come again in another advent to bring full and final redemption to all God has made.
