We all need mercy because we live in the midst of failure so much. David had had to flee but he failed in that he told a lie to do it. Even though at this point he was in sin God still extended mercy and gave him food. At the same time while he got the mercy it cost another family their lives. We need to make the right decisions even in our weakest moments or it may hurt someone else.
