Noah didn't leave the ark until he had clear direction from the Lord. He didn't grow impatient and get ahead of God, and neither must we. Even the act of leaving the ark was itself a step of faith. The ark was safe and it's often hard and even scary to leave a place of safety to step out into the unknown, but all of us at some point will be called out of what is familiar to what is uncertain – this is how God teaches us to trust him, and the evidence of our trust in him is our obedience. Noah obeyed and his obedience is a model for us today because friends obedience is rarely easy and often it is uncomfortable, but when God gives clear direction, we must obey. So here we are at the start of a new year. We always hope that the next year will be better than the last, but that's typically not how life works is it? Sometimes the new year holds some very dark providences for us. Life turns upside down and God seems silent but as sure as God remembered Noah, he will remember you too.
