REBUKE AND COMFORT FROM HAGGAI, PART 2 TEXT: Haggai 2:11-19
SUMMARY: As the first wave of returning pilgrims from Babylon to Jerusalem faced great opposition from God's enemies both inside and outside of their own ranks, the post-exilic prophets, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi, provided spiritual guidance, both comfort and rebuke, in the form of direct communications from God.
I. HAGGAI'S MESSAGE OF REBUKE (Haggai 1:1-15). A. They Had Undervalued God's Presence.
1. It was NOT a time for apathy.
2. It was NOT a time for self-enrichment.
3. It was NOT a time for presumption. —The Corrupting Power of Sin. —The Insufficient Power of Self-Righteousness. —The All-Sufficiency of God's Righteous Intervention.
