1. Many in the church today see their salvation as a personal matter devoid of any real connection outside of themselves. (The Problem) 4 Marks of Self-Centered Salvation • A persistent "closedness" toward others • A persistent disregard for the fellowship of the Church • A persistent "consumption" from others as opposed to a "contribution" • A persistent apathy toward those not in the fellowship 2. The salvation that God promises goes far beyond the individual believer by bringing us into fellowship with God and His Church. (The Correction) a. Our salvation places us under obligation to no longer think of ourselves. b. This outward focus is manifest in declaring the gospel. c. The gospel completely changes our perspective on life. d. This new perspective is of God's working in us. e. This work by God's design binds us into fellowship with others. 3. If we are devoid of this "family connection" we MUST ask if we are truly saved. (The Follow-Through)
