As we examine the end of this very long chapter, John is telling us that Jesus is the Son of God, sent from God, and is the great, "I Am." He is also saying that if you "hear," "obey," "rejoice," and are "glad" to see His day, it shows who your father is. My goal this morning is that every person hearing this will know whether they rejoice in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and that today would be a day of rejoicing… truly a day of "delight," and "riding on the high hills of the earth" as Isaiah 58 says. And therefore verifying that you have found your hope in God, obeying Him and rejoicing in His everlasting unchanging being. Let this passage be a comfort in the assurance of your hope in Jesus the Son of God or let it expose your true "father," and push you over to finally believe and follow Him.
