Abraham Kuyper said that "the church has never sufficiently confessed the influence of the Holy Spirit exerted upon the work of Christ." Therefore it is not surprising that little attention has been given to the vital role of the Holy Spirit in the incarnation and childhood of Jesus Christ.
It was through the Spirit's work that Christ's humanity came into existence. It was also through His Work that the perfect Christ-child "waxed strong in spirit" and "increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man." (Luke 2:40, 52)
How does One who was perfect and filled with the Spirit without measure (John 3:34) actually grow spiritually and increase in favor with God when He was already His well-beloved Son?
