It was our privilege, as a young man, to know Dr. Vance Havner and hear him preach in person a few times. He was God's ambassador, never pulled his punches where sin or shallow profession was concerned; always in his preaching Christ was exalted as LORD, and no salvation was available to rebels against the Exalted Emmanuel. In this Brother Rolfe Barnard and Brother Havner were much alike. It is our blessing to share a few of the sermons of another North Carolina preacher and author. Havner lived from 1901 to 1986, authored about 39 books and preached in almost every state of the US and in Canada. Enjoy these messages and recommend them to others. And as Bro. Havner would say, TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY! WWF

Great Sermon! I never tire of listening to Dr. Vance Havner. I true saint, and slave of our Lord. The many motels /hotels he traveled preaching Christ. I’m sure as lonely as they probably were at times, especially after his beloved life left this side of heaven. And yet He kept pressing on to the end, Yet ,as the apostle Paul proclaimed,” Yet I am not left alone for the Savior is with me.” Reminds me in many ways of another slave of Christ , Dr. Edwin Orr.

GOD's Ways and How We Think Things Should Be Done Two main points of this message:
1) We can become use to God and the things of God, treating Him and what is His as common things.
2) Instead of following the instructions of God, we use the seemingly successful methods of the world/other people.

Listen To This Message This is an important message that demonstrates the problem of much of what is going on in the church today.
Please listen. You won't forget this one.

Sobering! Vital messsage! After listening to this message for the first time, I was convicted, encouraged, and ashamed of my fruitlessness. Although Dr. Havner has gone on to be with our Lord, his messages are very "fresh" and much needed for today. This message is a "keeper".

This is a very helpful, practical message! This message is challenging. Dear old Vance Havner was one of the most memorable preachers I ever heard in person. Give him a listen!
Vance Havner was born October 17, 1901, in the Western North Carolina locality of Jugtown. Though his ministry eventually took him to major cities throughout America, Dr. Havner maintained a love for the quiet and simple ways of his more rural past. His academic experience...
