Our Lord Jesus Christ, in encouraging the just acts of charity and mercy. He, however cautioned against hypocrisy; revealing its nature, its consequences as illustrated – by the Pharisaical leaven (Matt. 16v6); the death of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts. 5) and Paul's rebuke of Peter' hypocritical conduct (Ga. 2v11–14). Further considered is; the seriousness of hypocrisy as Christ invoked the torturesome Woes (Matt. 23). Thus, the whole focus on hypocrisy, is aimed at arousing a sense of discernment, self-examining and a demand for a hearty devotion to God with a clear conscience, since hypocrisy is such a subtle sin. For a day is coming when Jesus will utter those dreadful words of Jesus inscribed in Matt. 7v21 – 23; "…I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness." This indictment will be on those who practice of "hypocrisy".
