H.C. Lord's Day 7 – True Faith – Sermon Outline
Intro: When you say, or are asked, if you have faith in Christ, how do you answer? What is true faith?
Need: H.C. questions 20-23 examines the nature and scope of salvation, true/saving faith and the Gospel and its promises. As Q. 21 states, true faith is a sure knowledge that receives as truth all that God has said in His Word, the Bible, with confidence that God has forgiven us, made us righteous, indeed, has saved us, by His sheer grace through Christ's meritorious work, fulfilling the law's demands, suffering for our sins as a law-breaker. Further, this faith is a gift of the Spirit, not a meritorious work of fallen man dead in sin.
Theme: Only those who are united to Christ with a true faith are saved.
