In Isaiah 26:1-27:1, we are shown 3 verses of a song sung by God's people who trust in Him while waiting for their strong city of salvation. I. Verse 1 is a song of trust. A. We live in a strong city in which the righteous are saved (vs. 1-2). B. We trust in Yahweh, our everlasting Rock, who keeps us in perfect peace as we keep our minds stayed on Him (vs. 3-4). C. We know God will humble the lofty city (vs. 5-6). II. Verse 2 is a song of hope while waiting. A. O LORD, while we wait, walking on the path of your judgment, we know you keep the path of the righteous level (vs. 7-8a). B. O LORD, while we wait, our souls yearn for You alone while you teach the wicked righteousness (vs. 8b-10). C. O LORD, while we wait, consume the wicked in the zeal for your people (v. 11). D. O LORD, while we wait, we know you have ordained and provided for our peace (vs. 12). E. O LORD, while we wait, under the rule of mere men, we remember Your name alone as you destroy them and enlarge your kingdom (vs. 12-15). F. O LORD, while we wait, though we have failed to trust you and keep our minds stayed on you as we should, we know you will cause our dead to live and sing for joy (vs. 16-19). III. Verse 3 is a song of salvation (26:20-27:1).
