This is a study of Paul’s first epistle, the epistle to the Church at Thessalonica. This is the first epistle that Paul ever wrote. Thessalonica was a Roman Colony city, right in the heart of the Roman empire, with a rich, long and varied history. Here Paul reminds them of his warning to them of coming trouble or persecution. But he makes it clear that by their growth in the Lord they should not be troubled or disturbed by these things. Paul speaks of the fear that his labor among them might have been in vain, and how that fear was dispelled when Timothy returned with the wonderful news of their faith and their love. Paul was lifted up by this news and rejoiced that they loved him just as he love them. His prayers that were offered night and day, were all about their growth and maturing in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. This was his great desire, that God would use him to a greater and greater growth in their lives.
