The incarnation is God’s loud declaration that He does not desire to be distant from people like us. “ …the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… ” God shows clearly in the incarnation that He delights to be known as He is: all that is in God, Jesus possesses. There is no God in heaven today who is not like Jesus. “… and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (NKJV) This weekend, we’ll turn our hearts to the miracle of the incarnation. I pray we’re encouraged as we marvel at the mystery of Christmas – God becoming human not only to pay our sin debt, but to give us what Jesus had always enjoyed – intimate relationship with the Father.
