Even so, he needed to be awakened to God's grace and awakened he was by God's goodness to him: not only in giving him a son but by showing that he is faithful to his covenant promises in giving him and the whole world a Saviour. And now we too as the people of the New Covenant are constantly being renewed in God's grace as we accept that our lives depend, not on what we can achieve, but on God who faithfully keeps his promises.
