In a recent article in the Washington Post, Russell Moore - president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention commented on Donald Trump's call for a Moratorium on Muslim immigration.
In the article Moore made this statement, 'Make no mistake. A government that can shut down mosques simply because they are mosques can shut down Bible studies because they are Bible studies.'
Moore's fatal flaw is that he thinks of Islam as simply another religion. This narrow definition ignores the two other aspects of Islam - the political and the military aspects. The first is expressed in Sharia the second in Jihad. You can't separate those elements (as Moore does here) and still have Islam. You can't open the door of immigration to just a third of what Islam teaches. He is defining Islam by what he would like it to be rather than by what it actually is. And that is a mistake that will have deadly consequences.
