The title, "Gold Rush", inspires pictures of crazy people running wildly, longing for a breakthrough that will change their fortunes for good. A very similar phenomenon has seized many churches today. Hundreds of thousands pack into pews, searching for that fortune-establishing nugget that never comes. Why do they never find what they are looking for? Because they want more than Jesus.
Luke describes Jesus teaching at the lake, and the crowd is ressing on Him. The majority of them didn't find what they were looking for, because they were looking for more than Jesus.
You too, will never find what you are looking for if you are looking for more than Jesus. The truth is; more than Jesus can never be found. |
