Tonight we begin a supplemental study of the Puritan John Whitlock's sermons through Psalm 18:23 in the book, "The Great Duty of Keeping Ourselves from Iniquity," recently reprinted by Dr. Don Kistler (of our own RPCGA) and his Northampton Press. We study the first chapter's opening words, mainly going closer to home in personal application and ownership and keeping from sins that we are especially addicted to personally. This is to especially apply all we have learned mostly more generally with our lengthy study of the sixth petition of the Lord's Prayer with Thomas Watson in the more general "us" not to be led into temptation and delivered from evil. WCF 15:1-2 and especially 5-6 were consulted regarding repenting of "particular" sins "particularly".
