What do we want for Christmas? This time of year, people are lied to, even in Christian households. Christmas is not about Santa Claus. Parents should not lie to their kids about anything, including Santa Claus. We are, to be truth tellers. Material Christmases do not make us happy. We do not know the date that Jesus was born, but we know that Jesus was born. The great gift is that God gave us Jesus, God with us. To have the most significant gift, we must receive it. We should not give things that are for our benefit. We are celebrating His birthday, not ours. God likes it when we do things for people who cannot repay us. The principal gifts should be for the One whose birthday it is.
