There is no doubt that we are living in a day of great apostasy. Many have turned aside to another gospel, which is not the gospel, as Paul said. It is the goal of Satan and it is the weakness of the human heart to turn away. It happens slower than most people think. It begins with the untying of knots and cutting loose from anchors that have held us close to the truth. We are then adrift and blown about by the winds of cares and lusts and opinions of others. We need anchors in our lives. People can be anchors, such as our parents, our Christian brethren, our pastor. We need memorials in our lives such as memories of times when God settled some truth in our heart for the last time and made it a sure thing for us. Without these anchors we are very apt to turn away to some other gospel, just like many of the Galatians had.
