An overview of the Biblical meaning and mission of the Christian Family.
Introduction: Family fallacies What is the real purpose of the family? What's it supposed to be all about? What have you come together for?
1. Our Family is a Reflection of God (3:14-15) “Our God has never existed as a lonely, incomplete, Unitarian being. From all eternity, the holy love, blissful joy, fathomless peace, and inner harmony among the three persons of the Trinity have provided such exquisite satisfaction and abundant fullness of existence that nothing else outside of this God has ever been needed” (Doug Kelly).
They have always labored together for the redemption of God's people. The father chose us before the foundation of the world, he says in Eph 1:4. The son redeemed us through his blood, 1:7. And the Spirit has sealed us to the day of redemption, 1:13. The divine family, which is eternally joined together in the bonds of love and fellowship, comes together to bring God's holy purposes to pass in the world. And so does ours.
2. Our Family is on Mission From God (3:21) Multiplication and dominion: Gen 1:27-28.
Example: The Plymouth Colonists
"Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth" (Ps 127:4).
Conclusion “One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts” (Ps 145:4) “This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD” (Ps 102:18)
