Remembering a statement like “man is not saved through works, but through faith” is a very useful truth. But, as with most general statements, it needs to be understood in its proper context. For while the statement is true in one regard it fails to explain the whole situation, should we zoom out from considering man's ability. It is true that man is not saved by his own working… but it is false to say that salvation occurs without any work at all! This is what I'd like to consider a little more fully this morning in a sermon entitled: The Work of Salvation. When we consider the “work of salvation” let's remember three necessary works involved in the salvation of man. For salvation to occur:
