God is not content to be known from a distance; He desires to be known intimately, relationally, as He truly is. And God has made this crystal clear in the incarnation. Eternal God has burst through the barrier between earth and heaven, revealing Himself most fully in Jesus. “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which is translated, "God with us.” (Matthew 1:23 – NKJV) The religions of this broken world reflect man’s best, confused efforts to find God and reach heaven. The birth of Immanuel reminds us that it is God who has found us, and brings us to heaven through Jesus. This Sunday, we’ll turn to Matthew’s account of Jesus’ birth and celebrate, “God with us.”
