(T.G. 25) I Text: “12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. 13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. (Galatians 6:12, 13) II Doctrine: The Messiah did not come to Earth and begin another sect within Judaism. Jesus Christ destroyed the works of the Devil, tearing down the partition between God and Man. The shadows and types of Old Testament Judaism are replaced with the living Temple, sacrifice, mediator, High Priest, and Sabbath’s rest. Weak Men have always tried to make peace with the dominant religion of the time and avoid persecution. False teachers attempted to do this by having Christian Men circumcised.
III Reasons: 1.False teachers trying to avoid persecution placate to their Mother religion. (Exodus 32:1-23) 2.These false brethren rejected the Cross of Christ for vain glory. ( John 11:45-53) 3.Rejecting the Grace of God for works salvation creates hypocritical slaves. (Hebrews 10:1-18) IV Application: 1.Egalitarian Humanism is the Mother religion of an Apostate Western Culture. False teachers are destroying Churches with this Demonic doctrine. (Genesis 3:6-15) 2.The Church must recover the true Gospel which glorifies the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 10:19-31)
