In the beginning of this series I described this book as an exposition of the sovereignty of Christ. 63 sermons later I need to correct this. The main theme is indeed the sovereignty of Jesus. However, the purpose of the book is to give grace to the hearers that they might persevere!
The Book of Revelation begs us to ask a question. If no new doctrine is presented in the book, then why do we need it? If 65 books teach us all we need to know about God, Man, Christ and Salvation, then why 66? Answer: God is His wisdom is preaching to our hearts more through our emotions than through our intellect.
This sermon is an explanation of Grace in the book of Revelation, focusing upon the very last verse, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all."
We persevere because God in His grace: 1) Loves His people in spite of thier total depravity. 2) Chose His people by unconditionally writing thier names in the Lamb's book of life before the foundation of the world. 3) Atoned for the sins of His people. 4) Irresistably draws His people to Himself. 5) Preserves His people.
*** Just in case you have missed it, these are the doctrines of grace.***
