This was the closing message of a special Remembrance Day service at Bethany, attended by local councillors, and members/former members of various armed forces. ---------------------------------
At this time when we remember those who laid down their lives for their country, Rev Elliott takes a look at some things that the Bible tells us that we should not forget.
1. WHO We Must Not Forget
The Lord. (Deut 8:11)
We must not forget His attributes. He is a God of Holiness, justice, mercy, love, wrath, righteousness etc.
We must not forget how much we depend upon Him in our every day lives.
How may we forget Him ?? By not keeping His commandments. (v11)
Our hearts can be lifted up (v14) and we can forget God because we are prospering in life.
2. WHAT We Must Not Forget
His Works. (See Psalm 78:7)
His Work of Creation. His Work of Redemption. His past acts of mercy and deliverance. His many benefits toward us (Psalm 103:2) - including, most of all, His offer of mercy in the Gospel.
3. What If We DO Carelessly Forget The Lord ?
God will not tolerate it forever.
V19 - ' And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. '
What is your relationship with God ??
The best way you can remember Him right now, is to repent, and call on Him to save you.
