This passage tells us what it took for Elisha to obtain the double portion of the blessing he asked for. What we learn here from him is valuable in our own lives. As with Elisha, the mantle of ministry in these days rests upon you and me. If we are going to be as effective as we should be for the glory of the Lord, then we too need the power of God's Spirit. It is that double portion of the blessing, which we would say, was the secret of the ministry of Elisha. As we look to the future and as we face the world and the flesh and the onslaughts of Hell don't we need something of the power and the blessing that Elisha had? Now what is interesting then about this passage of Scripture is that it gives us the story of how Elisha came to obtain this double portion of the blessing. I want us to look at the story and if we can see any indication of how we can have even a portion of the power and blessing of the Lord that was on Elisha
