Most people view work as a punishment that is supposed to be miserable. In reality, work is a gift from God that should be seen as a blessing. While the sin curse certainly added an aspect of drudgery to work, the fact is that Adam was assigned a job to care for the Garden of Eden, before he fell into sin. As Solomon contemplates work, he sees it as way in which God brings joy and fulfillment into a person's life. People are not designed to be lazy and unproductive. Whether it be vocational labor, voluntary service, or work in the home; we derive satisfaction in a job well done. And this trait is woven into our humanity by God Himself.
