Last week we concluded the prayer of Paul in Colossians 1. Paul had started by praying that the Christians there in Colossae would know the will of God. All true and correct behavior must start with knowledge, a knowing about God and His will for us. That knowledge isn't supposed to be a dead knowledge so Paul then prays that they would walk worthy of their calling. Their salvation was a costly salvation and along with the free gift of forgiveness in Christ comes a call to come and follow Him. He then prays that they would be strengthened. He didn't just want them to walk, but to walk completely worthy of Christ, willing to endure and patiently continuing steadfast in their walk. Lastly He gives thanks, reminding them of the realities of their salvation. They had been brought into a new kingdom and into a new relationship with God. Today we are going to start a new section where Paul talks about who Jesus is. This is what they needed as they were getting confused by all the messages which they were hearing. It is also what we need to be reminded of. Join us as we start this next section of Colossians.
