Dr. R. G. Lee (1886-1978) was paster of Bellevue Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee from 1927 to 1960. During that time, he first preached this sermon, Pay Day Someday. It was delivered by him over 1,200 times, and stands as a classic sermon of the 20th Century.
The sermon describes the plot by Jezebel and Ahab to seize the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, and the orchestration of his murder to accomplish the theft. God's prophet Elijah foretold the judgment of God that would fall upon them for their wickedness. Many years went by, but in the end the terrible judgment fell just as God had promised. There will be a Pay Day for every sinner one day, no matter how long he may think he has gotten away with it, for God never forgets. 'Pay Day Someday is written in the constitution of the Universe.'
This recording is undated, but was made sometime in the 1950s at Bellevue Baptist Church.
