The Lord Jesus, again in His critical hour, sympathetic and compassionate caring heart is revealed as He interceded for His offender. Jesus, as He was suspended on the cross, with a wounded, marred and disfigured body, weakened in strength, yet His mercies were still available to forgive. Christ the Savior remained true to both His Name "Jesus" and His purpose for coming to earth. Though crucified, He with 'Persistence,' 'Petitioned' His Father to pardon His abusers. And in keeping with His 'Passion' to suffer unto death, to redeem, to forgive and to save sinners remained His goal. This was epitomized by the forgiven thief that was hang on His side. Jesus was a man of sorrow, acquainted with pain and grief. Though He was fully God and fully man, He lavished His soul on prayer. Therefore, as men of clay, we should be praying and be forgiving like Him, without holding back. |
