In this week's passage from Mark 4:35-5:20, in another display of his power and authority, Jesus calms two different kinds of 'storms' with a simple command. Not only do the unclean spirits submit to him, even the wind and the waves obey him. However, despite the peace that Jesus brings, there is still much fear in those who witness these events. It would seem the fear of unbelief is more stubborn than the raging sea or an unclean spirit. How we need to hear those same words from Jesus, with faith - "Peace! Be still!" How we need to submit to his command, in faith. Afterall, he is the Prince of Peace! In the midst of the storms in our own lives, both inward and outward, may it be his peace which rules our hearts, and not the fear of unbelief.
