The Corinthian church was divided into several factions. One group said, "I am of Christ." What does it mean to be "of Christ?" What are the basic beliefs of Christianity? It begins with understanding who Jesus is. In the book "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, the argument is presented that Jesus was either a liar, lunatic, or Lord. We might also add "legend" to the list. If Jesus knew he wasn't God, but claimed to be then he was a liar. If he thought he was God, but was not then he was a lunatic. If Jesus never claimed to be God but his disciples "deified" him after his death, then he was a legend. But if he claimed to be God, and repeatedly gave evidence for it, then he is Lord and should be worshiped, loved, and followed as such.
