The theme/key word is “Keep”, meaning that we can keep God's Word as in obeying it. But it can also mean “to hoard”, or “latch onto”. The Word must be rightly understood and it must be rightly presented via preaching and teaching or we may fall into the error of simply using Scripture to meet our own personal needs. We need to be loving (the place) where God has us, as well as hating sin – even intertwining these. If we don't, we become discontented and grumbling, which is a seedbed for old sins - popping up into our lives again. We need to properly proportion what God is doing in our lives, and not dive too deeply in areas for which we want to change versus what God is currently doing in our lives. We need to welcome change even in areas of our lives that we don't necessarily want changed.
