In the abortion debate, the command "Thou shalt not kill" is noteworthy, but not sufficient to win the argument. This is because the question is not whether murder is wrong, but whether abortion is in fact murder. In other words, is the fetus a person (and thus accorded the right to life and equal protection under the law)? The so-called "pro-choice" advocates have been forced to concede the humanity of the fetus, and yet remain adamant that the human fetus (and in some cases even a newborn infant) is not a person.
A definitive text in the debate is Ex. 21:22-25, but unfortunately this text is often misunderstood by Christians. For example, both the NASV and NIV give poor translations of this key text. In addition to explaining the meaning of this text, the message also presents other passages that argue for the personhood of the fetus.

Great Sermon! Why do you think pedophilia is so common in the Catholic church? How could pastors, who claim to truly know the word of the lord, and live by His rules, commit such heinous acts? Why does the church cover up for these felons? Why do they merely transfer some of them to other parishes, where they can merely pick up where they left off? I have lost faith in the church. It has become more of a self-serving hypocrisy than a place that sets a true moral example.
