In this portion of Luke's gospel, we meet Simeon who was waiting for Jesus, who is the "consolation of Israel". In this sermon we are exhorted to see Christ as the only One who can bring consolation to our souls - to deal with the soul's greatest need - forgiveness from sin. Even in death, Christ brings consolation, as Simeon sees his imminent death as a mere "departure" in which he will gain peace. Preached Sabbath AM on 01/18/21 from Luke 2:25-35.
The consolation of God… I. Is found in the Word. II. Is found in Christ. III. Is found in death.
