Charles Schultz, the creator of Peanuts had tried for a while to do a Charlie Brown special for TV but couldn't get any of the networks to take him up on it. One day Coca-Cola called his office and asked if he had ever thought about doing a Christmas special for Peanuts. With that a rough one page draft was written up and presented to Coke and they loved what they heard, so much so that they used their power to get CBS to run with it. With only a few short months to work on the script, animation, and audio Mr. Schultz and his crew got the job done. The network hated it, they didn't like how the child actors came off as adults, the jazz music, the poor animation, but they especially hated Linus quoting from the Bible. However Coke loved all of it and as the sponsor they got their way. God has a way of doing that, whether He is out in front doing the impossible or moving pieces around behind the scenes getting people to do what He wants them to without them realizing it. God will sponsor us to get His message out to the world.
