VALUE OF A SOUL_02 Mark 8:31-38 [The normal Christian life involves dying to self that we may find life in Christ.]Jesus is about to tell them something in verses 36-37 about every person born into this world that would totally change the way they saw themselves and totally change the way they saw other people. In Mark 8:27-30, the final connection was made in the hearts of most of His men and they finally understood Who Jesus was.I want to talk to you on the value of your soul. Have you counted the cost if your soul should be lost? Did you know that when God made you, God breathed into your nostrils what the Bible calls the breath of life and you became, in the words of the Bible, a living soul, made in the image of God. You are not a body, you have a body. The body is the house in which your soul is. The body will one day die; it will be put in the ground and it will decay. But your soul, made in the image of God, will last for eternity. When the sun, the moon, the stars have fallen out of orbit, when the sun has become a cinder, when time shall be no more, your soul will be in existence somewhere, either in heaven or hell. Timeless, dateless, measureless, your soul, made in the image of God will exist forever and ever and ever and ever. There's not one shred of scripture that says after you die you can be saved. To lose your wealth would be another thing, but oh, to lose your soul. "What shall is profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" |
