The first people he meets know Laban and the first female he meets is his future wife - which is his purpose in going there in the first place. God led Jacob just like He led Abraham's servant. Rachel's reaction to Jacob is a good lesson and example for all young girls who are of age to be married. Jacob meets Laban, who is the one from whom Jacob will reap what he has sown.
