GENESIS 8 Summary: We read that God remembers Noah and all who were in the ark and stops the rain and the flood (1-2). The Ark rests on the mountains of Ararat as the waters recede after 150 days (3-5). Noah cautiously sends out a raven, and then a dove to understand if the earth is dry and ready for them to come out. He waits on the Lord's timing (9-12). He leaves the Ark on God's command with all his family and animals, and the first he does is to offer sacrifices, and God covenants with Noah and promises that He will never curse the earth with a similar flood or destroy the creatures in that way again. God promises the yearly seasons and harvest (13-22).
Devotional: (1) How does the phrase "God remembered Noah" is an expression of the return of His mercy to mankind? (2) How does the ending of the flood, mean that God's demand for justice was satisfied? (3) Do you see how the same hand that brings judgement also brings deliverance? Think on this! (4) How does the resting of the Ark on a mountain teach you about God's sovereignty about the time and place of your rest seasons in your life? (5) In what ways Noah demonstrate patience with God? Will you ask for the grace of patience in the current challenges and trials of your life? (6) How does the offering and the sacrifice of Noah teach you about serving the Lord even when you have little? (7) Why should we rest in God's promises about His provisions of seasons and the environmental changes, rather than the environmental activists and their climate change pronouncements? (8) How will this world come to an end? How can you be ready for it?
