This past Thursday was Reformation Day on which many of us commemorate Martin Luther’s nailing of his 95 theses onto the church door at Wittenberg. Luther’s courageous challenge of the practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church led to a movement which looked again to the authority of the Bible alone for authority in religious matters and restored the biblical teaching of salvation by God’s grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.
In this message I preach from one of my favorite passages, Romans 3:21-28, which plainly sets forth the biblical teaching about justification – how can a person be just (or right) in God’s sight. It is not by works which we do, but only by faith in what God has graciously done for us in Christ.
